Txartela 26

These personalised txartelas (travel passes) which Autobuses La Unión S.A. offers its customers, are for people aged 26 or under. There are two types of txartela 26, the winter season and summer season pass.

How they work

  1. These txartelas are valid for the following lines:
    • Gallarta-Vitoria/Gasteiz.
    • Algorta-Vitoria/Gasteiz.
    • Vitoria/Gasteiz-Leioa UPV.
    • Bilbao-Vitoria/Gasteiz.
    • All lines (Multi-line pass)
  2. They are valid for the following periods:
    • TXARTELA 26 WINTER: From 1 September to 30 June the following year.
    • ONE-MONTH TXARTELA 26 WINTER: Valid for calendar months within the general validity period, from 1 September to 30 June.
    • TXARTELA 26 SUMMER: From 1 July to 31 August.
  3. These passes are valid from Monday to Friday (except public holidays), for the lines indicated thereon.
  4. The pass entitles you to make one return journey a day on the line stipulated on the pass, within its validity period
  5. When travelling using these passes, seats cannot be booked and to board the bus passengers will have to proceed as follows:
    • If the stop they wish to use is on route, they will go directly to the coach and they will validate their pass on the ticking machine on board the coach.
    • If passengers wish to catch the coach at the station, they must go firstly to the ticket office, where they will be given a ticket for the next coach to depart and on which they will be entitled to travel with the pass they have acquired.
  6. These passes are personal and non-transferable; they cannot be lent or made over for use by another passenger.
  7. Passes used fraudulently will be rendered null and void.
  8. In the event of an inspection on route, users of these passes must present their ticket if they have departed from the station, their current ID document together with the corresponding txarela. Otherwise it will be considered an invalid travel document.
  9. If passengers do not wish to use the entirety of their pass, they can return it to Autobuses La Unión S.A., who will deduct the price of two one-off tickets for each day the pass has been valid and that users could have used it, irrespective of whether they have done so or not, from the price paid for the pass, including the day the pass is returned. The amount resulting from this subtraction will be reimbursed to the passenger from day 1 to 15 of the following month.
  10. These reimbursements described in point 9 will be made by bank transfer to the account the passenger has indicated on the pass application form.
  11. Renewal of TXARTELAS 26 WINTER, will be at the express request of the passenger, whereas renewal of the ONE-MONTH TXARTELA 16 WINTER will be performed automatically from one month to the next, within the general validity period of the pass (from 1 September to 30 June) with the same characteristics as the current pass, unless instructions are received to the contrary from the passenger; said instructions must be sent in writing (fax, e-mail or letter) to Autobuses La Unión, before day 25 of the month prior to the month in which the pass will effectively be cancelled.
  12. These passes are valid for their calendar period. If a passenger wishes to begin using any of them once the pass validity period has commenced, payment will be as follows:
    • TXARTELA 26 WINTER: Consult prices according to the start date.
    • ONE-MONTH TXARTELA 26 WINTER: Passengers will pay the full price, irrespective of the date on which they begin to use their pass.
    • TXARTELA 26 SUMMER: Passengers will pay the full price, irrespective of the date on which they begin to use their pass.
  13. Passes are applied for as follows:
    • TXARTELA 26 WINTER: In order to be able to use the txartela from 1 September, applications must be submitted by 25 August and new applicants must submit the following documentation:
      • Application form fully completed.
      • 1 recent passport-size photo.
      • Proof of payment of the price into one of the following accounts:
        • BBK: 2095 - 0551 - 60 9100630755
        • Caja Vital: 2097-0132-33-0008167496
      • Photocopy of ID document.
    • ONE-MONTH TXARTELA 26 WINTER: Applications can be made throughout the pass validity period (from 1 September to 30 June) when the passenger so requires, but always by day 25 of the month prior to the one in which he/she wishes to use the pass. The following documentation is required:
      • Application form fully completed.
      • 1 recent passport-size photo.
      • Photocopy of ID document.
    • TXARTELA 26 SUMMER: Applications must be made by 25 June and new applicants must submit the same documentation as that required for the Txartela 26 Winter.
  14. If Txartelas are requested before the deadline and in the correct way, passengers can collect them from the ticket office they previously indicated on the application form, at least 24 hours prior to them coming into force.
  15. If a Txartela is requested after the deadline, Autobuses La Unión undertakes to make it available to the applicant within a maximum of 96 hours, at the ticket office indicated on the application form, during which time the passenger cannot use it to travel.
  16. TXARTELA 26 passes are renewed every year upon request.
  17. The prices of these passes will be reviewed once a year. Autobuses La Unión will publish the prices sufficiently in advance, and they will be available to the public at our ticket offices in Bilbao and in Vitoria/Gasteiz, as well as on our website.
  18. If a pass is lost or stolen, a replacement will be provided at a cost of 5.00. In these cases, Autobuses La Unión S.A., will be liable for the journeys the pass owner makes from the time he/she notifies the incident (e-mail, fax or letter delivered to our ticket offices), until he/she receives the replacement pass. While the replacement is being issued, the passenger will have to pay the full ticket price. When the replacement pass is collected, he/she will hand in the tickets and they will be reimbursed within 2 working days.
  19. If the pass does not work correctly when it is validated in any of our ticket offices or on board the coach, the user must pay for the journeys and report the pass malfunction at any of our ticket offices, handing in the tickets he/she has had to pay for at the same time. From day 1 to 15 of the following month, Autobuses La Unión will verify the cause of this malfunction and will proceed to reimburse the user for the tickets he/she has presented, provided that it is verified that the error is due to a card malfunction or a malfunction of its controlling software.
